Kiitos from Putiikki

29 days, countless working hours, some misfortunes and many joyful moment later Putiikki closed its doors in Paris last month.

Overall the experience was amazing and we will definitely carry on Putiikki adventures during next months.

We would like to thank you all who took a part of this project. Without the designers, our neighbors on Rue Quincampoix and the helpful guys in Finland Putiikki could have not happened. We learned a lot and experienced even more.

For the future events I will keep you updated.

Now we have some time to sleep again :)

Take care and enjoy the summer!

LATE NIGHT SHOPPING 9.6 // with GUEST DESIGNER

On Thursday 9.6 from 6 o’clock onwards Putiikki will be open until late.

Come for drinks, discount shopping and enjoy the evening with us!

We will also have guest designer joining us. Parisian jeweller Galatee Pestre will be here selling her products.

Galatee’s own words about her work:

“As a designer and maker, I turn daily signs into fine and interactive jewels.
My design gets to the heart of the matter. By drawing your attention, these precious signs become communication tools: my wish is to provoke a response, and to promote exchange around the jewel.
As I love every aspect of my job, from working the matter to the relationship with the jewel wearer, I want to carry a spicy message: give the jewel a new value through its identity.

Think about… // Food for thought

What use is a jewel?
A jewel is a precious object, often considered as a useless accessory… It is assumed that the jewel is of no use. But then, why is it so common?
So with my own prejudice about jewels, I started questioning people around me. What came out of these interviews is that the jewel is appreciated and worn for many different reasons – because it is precious, conspicuous, or discreet, noisy, chic, heavy, or ancient, etc.
The main thing I get from this is that everyone has got something to say about their jewel…unless it is the contrary…?”

Blog post from Jolier

La vie est JOLIE(R)

I’m leaving for Paris in soon and I’m really excited for the upcoming trip. I’ve visited the city once, but I’m looking forward to see what Paris has to offer this time and what it’s like in summer. I wouldn’t mind catching a glimpse of those famous sights either (I’ve heard you can see the silhouette of Eiffel tower from far and that the view from Sacre Coeur is amazing).

Not only am I excited for going to Paris myself, but also for the pop up store Putiikki, which marks an important step for JOLIER. This is the first time for JOLIER to present in Paris. This unique opportunity to view and buy JOLIER clothing in Paris is important for me as Paris has been one of my inspirations when creating SS2011 Paris, London, Milan, New York collection.

The spirit of bohemian Parisienne combined with romantic chic has been one of the key ideas behind the Paris dresses. The SS2011 Paris, London, Milan, New York collection will also be available at Putiikki, alongside with Jolier ONE (a piece of clothing which can be worn over 50 different ways).

I will personally be in Paris for 3 days which I guess is too little for this magnificent city, but I’m planning to make the most of my stay. One of the things that’s definitely on my list is the opening night event of Putiikki pop up store on Wednesday 1 June at 4pm onwards. After that, maybe a visit to tour Eiffel or a visit to check that view over the rooftops of Paris.
